Hi, I’m Woori. I’m a counselor-in-training working toward licensure as both a Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and a Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) in California. I bring a unique background to the counseling field, having previously worked for over six years in public accounting and the corporate sector as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). My early career gave me a deep understanding of the pressures that come with high-achieving environments and a growing recognition of my passion for supporting people beyond the numbers.

I was born and raised in South Korea and later moved to the U.S., where I completed high school, college, and built my first career. These cross-cultural experiences shaped my appreciation for the complex identities we carry and the different ways we seek connection, meaning, and healing. As a counselor, I value curiosity, authenticity, and creating a nonjudgmental space where clients can explore their inner worlds and move toward meaningful change.

I am especially interested in supporting individuals navigating life transitions, stress, anxiety, and relationship challenges, with a particular focus on those experiencing work-related stress, performance pressure, and the emotional weight of high expectations. With my background, I also hold a special interest in the emotional impact of work, money, and identity - areas I hope to integrate more fully into my practice as I continue my training.

CLINICAL APPROACH

As a counselor-in-training working toward licensure as both a LMFT and LPCC in California, my clinical work is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). I believe in meeting clients where they are, identifying what is already working, and collaboratively building tools that promote clarity, resilience, and meaningful change. My approach is strengths-based, goal-oriented, and compassionate, focusing on uncovering patterns in thought and behavior while encouraging clients to move toward their own definitions of wellness and success.

Before pursuing counseling, I worked for over six years as a Certified Public Accountant in both public accounting and corporate finance. This experience gave me a deep understanding of the emotional toll high-pressure environments can take, particularly around stress, performance anxiety, identity confusion, and work-life imbalance. I am especially drawn to supporting individuals navigating life transitions, career uncertainty, and the mental health impacts of perfectionism, burnout, and internalized expectations.

In session, I aim to create a space that feels grounded, collaborative, and empowering. Whether clients are wrestling with anxiety, workplace stress, or feeling unsure of what truly fits, I work with them to clarify goals, challenge unhelpful beliefs, and access their existing strengths. My goal is to help people not only cope, but move toward lives that feel more aligned, intentional, and self-directed.

INTERESTS, HOBBIES, & FUN FACTS

I love staying active and enjoying the seasons - skiing in the winter, swimming in the summer, and camping whenever I can. I’m an avid traveler and enjoy immersing myself in new cultures (and trying all the local food!). While living in California, I made it a point to visit nearly all the iconic spots - Yosemite, Death Valley, Palm Springs, Napa Valley, Joshua Tree - you name it. I’m also a big fan of musicals and always try to catch a Broadway show when I’m in New York. For a dose of pure joy, I love watching Disney movies and singing the songs at karaoke. I try to keep a student mindset in everything I do and genuinely appreciate every opportunity to learn and grow whether through travel, new experiences, or everyday moments.
