My name is Misske, and I am a U.S. Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist Associate and Mental Health Counselor Associate, currently residing in South Korea. I was born in Indonesia and immigrated to the U.S. at the age of 12. After living in the States for over 15 years, I expanded my horizons by living abroad in China and Australia before falling in love with South Korea. As an Asian immigrant, my scope of practice has always placed the Asian community and Asian immigrants at the forefront of my focus.

With Healing Together, it is my mission to bring my professional therapy experience and my personal global experience to serve international English-speakers residing in South Korea. Through my experiences in mental health, both personal and professional, I have come to find my passion with adult therapy and counseling. This includes working with adults navigating their life transitions, couples’ dynamics, trauma work in relationship, rupture in relationships, intergenerational trauma, and attachment issues both in relationships and for individuals.

CLINICAL APPROACH

In my clinical work, I am most drawn to helping adult clients navigate through the challenges that come with pivotal crossroads of life and enter into healthy transitions. I invite my clients to go on this journey of self-discovery and growth with curiosity and openness to explore their inner workings, relationships, and environments.

I am passionate about working with individuals from various cultural backgrounds. The tools that I use focus on working with individuals, couples, and marriages, as I strongly believe that relationships are the core of our human connections. Drawing on my own personal experiences with many transitions, I strive to help those who are experiencing a wide array of changes, whether that means helping individuals with transition into a new environment, helping couples with difficulties in communication, or helping with other life changes.

I am here to provide these services not only as a listener and strong advocate, but also as someone who truly believes in the power of resilience. I am constantly drawn to helping people find themselves, whether that is in the form of self-adjustment, radical transformation, or simply appreciating the present moment. In my clinical work, my approach relies on a systemic and holistic lens with the framework of attachment theory and emotionally focused theory. I believe in the nurturance of strong emotional attachment with oneself and others. In addition, my work heavily relies on the social justice and client-centered framework.

INTERESTS, HOBBIES, & FUN FACTS

I enjoy connecting with new people, traveling, and exploring international cuisines. When I’m not connecting with people, traveling, or going on an eating escapade, I keep myself busy with studying languages, cooking, and watching my favorite shows. One fun fact about me is that in Indonesian, my name means Thursday, but backwards as in Kemis = Daythurs.
